Mediation is a process in which an impartial third-party assists parents in making decisions regarding their children.

Mediation is a confidential process (with the exception of mandated reporting issues). The mediator facilitates communication between the parents, offering NO recommendations or decisions.

Mediation orders are valid for one (1) year, during which time parents may return to discuss co-parenting issues. If mediation produces agreements, a formal document can be filed and made into a court order.

The fee for mediation is $150.00 ($75 per parent). Mediation fees can be paid in person at the Clerk of the District Court located at 710 N. 7th Street, Kansas City, KS 66101 in the form of cash, money order, or cashier's check. To make payments by phone contact the Clerk's office at (913) 573-2882.
