General Information:

Child in Need of Care (CINC) cases are those cases that are filed under The Revised Kansas Code for Care of Children-K.S.A. 2018 Supp. 38-2201 through 38-2283 and amendments thereto-that deal with child abuse and neglect. The primary role of a CINC Court Services Officer is that of a liaison between the court and all other parties to the case. A CINC Court Services Officer provides information to parents, attorneys, and any other parties in the case in a collaborative effort to serve the best interest of children. The CINC Court Services Officer attends court hearings, writes court reports, participates in various staffing's, and obtains detailed information for the official record. A CINC Court Services Officer may be required to testify in court. In the event that the Department of Children and Families is not assigned to a case, a CINC Court Services Officers will provide case management.
