General Information:
The Civil Department’s responsibility is to file and maintain records on Civil, Domestic, and Appeals actions.

The types of cases the Civil Department processes are Civil (Chapter 60), Domestic (Chapter 23), and Appeals. The cases generally involve mortgage foreclosures, name changes, recovery of damages for personal injury, liens, bonds, divorces, paternity, child support, visitation and custody, protection orders, and appellate records.

The Civil Clerks file new cases, enter information on computer, and issue pleadings. The Clerks have a great deal of contact with the public. The contact includes both telephone calls as well as walk-ins.

Location and hours:

The Civil Department is located on the 3rd floor of the Wyandotte County District Courthouse.
Hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
